Teen Peers
The Teen Peer Program is a leadership and job readiness program developed by Focus on Community in 1992. Focus works with the Teen Peers to provide skill development training, opportunities to attend conferences, volunteer opportunities in the community and leadership development. Teen Peers are provided with education about the dangers of substance use and become role models in the community on leading healthy lives free of substance use. Teen Peers are able to volunteer in the family and afterschool programs that Focus provides and apply to be a paid staff member in these programs gaining valuable work experience. Teen Peers are given opportunities to get involved in community events and advocate for changes in their community. The Teen Peer program is open to youth in 8th -12th grade that live within Racine County. For more information contact Focus' Program Director at 262-221-5552.
Teen Peers are currently FOCUSed on FACT
FACT a youth driven movement of Wisconsin teens who are spreading the truth about tobacco. It’s time Wisconsin heard the truth about tobacco. Here’s what we know: Tobacco’s still killing way too many of us. But when people understand the damage tobacco products can do—to their lives, their bodies, and to all the friends, family and people around them? They make better choices. And that’s our mission.
FACT teens are spreading the undeniable, unfiltered truth about tobacco all over Wisconsin. Truths about toxic ingredients and secondhand smoke. Losing friends and loved ones. Smelling nasty. Addiction. Cancer. And living with a hole in your throat. (For real.) We’re taking action. And we’re changing Wisconsin—one town, one school, one person at a time.
