Extended Learning
Focus on Community has been selected to partner with the Racine Unified Extended Learning program to provide a portion of the Social Emotional Learning objectives for the 2022-23 school year. Our long history of providing life changing skill development and youth mentoring programs has put us in a unique position to expand our capacity and improve our ability to provide prevention programming holistically. Through our Extended Learning programming we will build on the important life skills we teach in the classroom and teach through interactive learning that is both fun and uplifting.
To take it a step further we are providing this program by training teen mentors to implement other learning strategies. This way the youth participants are not only hearing important asset building information from adult teachers, but are having it reinforced by local teens. Young people connect with each others in ways that our adult team cannot. This positive role modeling is significant in helping the young participants find new meaning in what we are trying to accomplish.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in the Extended Learning programming at your school so they can participate in this innovative and exciting opportunity please visit the RUSD Extended Learning site to find out more.
